Nyiragongo Volcano spews ash and smoke
Nyiragongo Volcano, located in the city of Goma in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, started to operate. The volcano, which last erupted in May of last year, spewed ash and smoke into the sky. Geologists from the Goma Volcano Observatory noted an increase in seismic activity at the volcano.
The eruption of the volcano on May 22 killed 32 people and caused thousands of people to leave their homes. Many have fled to neighboring Rwanda, while others still live in makeshift camps in Goma.
